Plant-based Mexican-inspired restaurant El Borracho, with its flagship location in Pike Place Market, recently reopened its Tacoma location.

Owner Kittie Davidovich first opened El Borracho at Pike Place in 2012 with Ballard and Tacoma locations popping up shortly after. And the Tacoma location opened in 2017.

COVID-19 proved challenging for most small businesses. With labor shortages and shift ing guidance by the state, Davidovich made the difficult decision to close the Tacoma location temporarily. It took a litter longer than anticipated, but the restaurant reopened in January.

“We love Tacoma. We always knew we’d be back,” Davidovich said.

Stop by for fan favorites such as the Al Pastor, smoky-sweet tofu and pineapple (made locally from non-GMO soybeans at Tacoma Tofu), Beefy Chipotle Potato Burrito, Tex-Mex style Impossible Burger, chipotle potato, nacho cheese sauce, and chipotle sour cream, or Seitan Barbacoa, handmade Ancho Chile Seitan steak by Portland’s Snackrilege, to name a few.

You also can’t go wrong with margaritas on tap, like the Pink Cheapo, frozen or on the rocks, and a happy hour that runs Tuesday through Saturday.
