Creating CalmInside a Gig Harbor Craftsman Style Homeby Lisa Patterson, photos by Dane Meyer Throughout the years, Dan and Valerie Nixon of Gig Harbor have been involved in the building of custom homes and the renovation of others through their company, Choice Carpentry, a finishing carpentry business. So when it was time to build their own custom home, they knew exactly which features they wanted to incorporate. A sewing room, a master bathroom with spa-like amenities, a kitchen fit for a chef – all this and more in a 1,850-square-foot place? With careful planning, they made their dream house overlooking the water in a historic Gig Harbor neighborhood a reality. “It’s a small lot on a street of tight lots,” Valerie Nixon said. “We had a narrow footprint.
