Bainbridge & Beyond

Island Hopping Around the Sound

by Shyla Clark

Bainbridge Island may share Seattle’s area code, but the island’s cultural tempo is markedly slower than its bustling neighbor across the sound. Part suburb, part nature conservatory, Bainbridge seems to have conflicting personalities, but somehow this doesn’t interfere with the veritable experience you will happily find there.

The island is home to commuters, yes, but it is also a haven for those who value nature and its resources. Thanks to the island’s efforts to conserve natural beauty through parks and reserves, Bainbridge’s landscape is one of inspiration and peace. It also harbors farms, markets, restaurants and artisans who value natural and organic growing methods, providing the island with fabulous produce and dining options.
