| There are so many opportunities for people young and old to learn a new trick or two. From Tae Kwon Do to Glass Blowing, there's something for everyone.
We recently received our copy of the 2010 Activity Guide courtesy of Metro Parks. Here are just a few opportunities we thought were exciting enough to share!
1. Buff Moms/Happy Babies: With this class, new moms can workout while playing with their babies! Classes are at Jefferson Point in Tacoma and are $20 on Wednesdays. Learn more at metroparkstacoma.com
2. Paralympic Sport Tacoma: Regardess of ability, there's a game to be played. Paralympic Sport is looking for athletes, coaches and volunteers. Learn more at 253.591.5314.
3. Tiger Tao Karate Okinawa Goju Rye: Say what? This class is described as a skill and practice exercises that help improve mental and physical development. The name of the class is cool enough to try it out! It's held at the People's Community Center in Tacoma on Tuesdays, Thursdays and saturdays. Learn more at metroparkstacoma.com
4. Family Snowshoe Class: Kids and parents can learn to snowshoe with a naturalist as a guide. The class is $18 and will be held on Jan. 31. Learn more at metroparkstacoma.com
5. Ultimate Frisbee: Metro Parks Tacoma and Disk NW will be bringing this indoor version of the sport to the Truman Middle School gym. Player fee is $25 for the winter session that runs mid-January through mid-March ever Wednesday evening from 6 tp 9 p.m. Register at discnw.org or contact Tacoma.indoor@discnw.org
6. Youth Detective Training: Kids ages 15 and older can become a history detective during this unique class at the Fort Nisqually Living History Museum. Class is $15 and will be held on saturday, Jan. 30 from 10 to noon. Learn more at fortnisqually.org.
7. Belly Dancing! Belly Dancing is a great way to get in shape, plus it is fun. Belly Dancing classes for all levels will be held at the South Park community Center in Tacoma on Thursdays for $40 to $44 per session. You must be 14 or older. Learn more at metroparkstacoma.org
8. Glassblowing: Blow your own glass float, Cinderella glass pumpkin, flower or fused glass art along with the professionals at M.Space Studio, 2514 Holgate St., Tacoma.
