I'd love to see a best martini category. For that you can't beat Six Olives - and they have a pretty great happy hour too.
Jeremy (Tacoma)    Jun 15, 2010 11:57 AM
Columbia bank allowed me to overspend on my debit card account even though at the bank they said that my account didn't allow that. Thanks columbia, enjoy my 30 bucks.
Franki (Puyallup)    May 18, 2010 8:42 AM
Way to go Import Auto and Columbia Bank!! Of course you both would win this is a magazine for people with great taste in the South Sound and it shows!!
Fred (Auburn)    Apr 19, 2010 5:22 PM
It would be nice to see the hospitals ranked by specialty. Every hospital has its niche - things that it is known for doing extremely well. I have heard really good things about both St Joe & Tacoma General (and some not-so-great things about Auburn Regional), and I'd like to know which hospital to go for specific things (cardiology, oncology, sports medicine, etc). This list did, however, cover best place to have a baby - Tacoma General. Thanks for the rankings!!! :)
Anna (Olympia)    Apr 18, 2010 4:56 PM
i love this list. i will vote for more Olympia stuff next year! Had no idea this was here. Olympia is the home to the best farmers market in my humble opinion. Some good coffee too.
Scott Mulholland (Tacoma)    Apr 13, 2010 1:18 PM
South Sound readers: Thank-you for voting for me as your best local artist. Scott. www.scottmulholland.net
Jimmy J (UP)    Apr 08, 2010 4:30 PM
Great list! I think Tight Cuts should have won for best mens hair salon though!
L (Tacoma)    Apr 07, 2010 11:20 AM
This list is right on -- don't speed through Fife. Ever. TG is a great place to have a baby. El Gaucho has the best steak. Love Watsons and Posh. I didn't vote, but next time I will.
Teaching Toys, Too (Gig Harbor)    Apr 05, 2010 9:41 AM
Did you know that Teaching Toys has two stores? The one listed here is the Tacoma store but there is also one in Uptown, Gig Harbor. The address is: 4635 Point Fosdick Drive NW Suite 300. 253-514-6113
Anonymous (Tacoma)    Apr 03, 2010 9:44 PM
Uhhh, didn't Merende close in January? http://blog.thenewstribune.com/tntdiner/2010/01/28/merende-closes-after-this-weekend-but-could-there-be-a-future/#more-2325
Tacoma Grllll (tacoma)    Apr 03, 2010 6:55 PM
this is a great idea. If your place didn't win, maybe it isn't that great. Did you vote? I don't agree with some choices. But what is neat is that there are places on this list I NEVER TRIED. And now I will. Thanks for putting this contest together. I will vote next time, too.
Joe D. (Tacoma)    Apr 03, 2010 12:56 PM
I definitely don't agree with all of these choices, but why are you guys complaining? Did you vote? If you want your favorites on the list you gotta rally! Like I said, I don't agree with a few things, but I think it's awesome that we have something like this to celebrate our favorite places.
Cynthia Burns (Renton)    Apr 03, 2010 8:05 AM
Interesting list. One of the winners (justifiably) sent me this link to check out. It opened my eyes to Tacoma ... maybe my next visit will be South instead of North or East. Congratuations to all winners. Who knew?!
Tac (Tacoma)    Apr 02, 2010 5:56 PM
Wow. As Flip said, not sure who voted on these. -- If anyone has ever been to Shakabrah they would know that the food is tasteless, and that Babblin Babs Bistro should have won 'Best Breakfast' by a landslide. -- Same with 'Best Chef' ... William Mueller is by FAR the best chef in all of Puget Sound. Try the food at Babblin Babs and you'll see what I mean.
Erica (Stadium District)    Apr 02, 2010 4:02 PM
Such a great list! There are a few places listed that I have to try out, soon!
Flip (Tacoma)    Apr 02, 2010 3:23 PM
Wow, this is definitely interesting. Not sure what kind of readers voted on this, but the fact that the North Shore Golf Course finished as Runner Up to Chamber Bay is absolutely absurd. I can think of at least 20 courses in the "South Sound" better than North Shore.
Jason (South Tacoma)    Apr 02, 2010 9:49 AM
Btw, what makes Silverdale eligible for "South Sound?" It's north of Seattle.
Jason (South Tacoma)    Apr 02, 2010 9:46 AM
Best in the minds of a few Gig Harborites, evidently.
Tiffany (Sumner)    Apr 01, 2010 10:39 PM
What, no best beer selection? 99 Bottles all the way!
